Why rinse skin with water when you get acid on your hand rather than a base to neutralize it?
It may seem like a stupid question because i know to rinse with water but im not sure why.|||Water is usually available everywhere and dilutes most chemicals. The idea is to remove the acid as rapidly as possible to minimize skin damage. There is not time to hunt for a neutralizing agent, use water or wipe the stuff off as much as possible. In emergency response procedures, the concept is to go with the simplest, fastest solution to eliminate or diminish the problem.
