What is the material in jewelry that causes your skin to turn green?

I feel pretty stupid asking this, but I really don%26#039;t know.|||Yes...It is Nickel.

Nickel content in jewelry is an inexpensive alloy to add to strengthen Gold ( or sometimes Silver ), however, the drawback is that 1 out of 3 people is allergic to Nickel in at least some way.

Common reactions is to turn %26quot;green.%26quot; It is caused by a reaction to the body%26#039;s Ph balance. Some reactions can be severe and cause bleeding blisters and burns...but those cases are rare.|||While some can have allergic reactions to metals which can cause skin discoloration, most discolorations are due to the oxidation of metals in the jewelry. Copper reacts to sweat and turns skin green. The piece you%26#039;re wearing might not be pure copper, but it might have enough copper in it to cause a reaction, and some people seem to have body chemistry that%26#039;s prone to staining|||I too am almost sure it%26#039;s nickel ...

A doctor once told me that jewelry that is below 18K tends to have more nickel ...and a lot of people are allergic to nickel which causes them to break out or turn green|||pure gold is actually 24carat but indian standard is 22carat rest part is cupper ,silver bronze alloyed to increase its strength|||It is either copper or nickel, you will probably need to do some good researching this to find out for sure though.|||I%26#039;m pretty sure it%26#039;s nickel, but I%26#039;m not sure. Or copper. Copper turns your skin green.|||metal
