How do I get rid of flaky facial skin with acne?

I have mild acne, and when some of it clears up a bit, the skin where it was will get all flaky. And even though I use products such as St. Ives exfoliating scrub, I just can%26#039;t seem to get a smooth run over my face, which creates problems when putting on foundation.
